Internationally accepted mineral metallurgical standard test procedures to determine the physical properties of ores include the Bond ball mill work index. This is empirical index determined by closed circuit grindability tests developed by F.C.Bond in the mid 1930’s. It requires a specific 305mm diameter x 305mm long (inside dimensions) horizontal axis ball mill without lifters operating at 70 rpm to perform grindabilities from 28 to 500 mesh.
Alsto ball mill a complying machine with the appropriate barrel and ball charge. The Bond Index Ball Mill is supplied standard with a barrel and rotating yoke assembly and the electric motor drive; with a standalone bench, funnel and screen.
Safety is a prime consideration for all Alsto equipment and the Bond Index Ball Mill is supplied equipped with acoustic enclosure.
The ball mill is designed to accept a ball charge in accordance with F. C Bond’s standard.
This ball charge consists of 286 balls as follows:
- 44 x 35mm balls
- 67 x 30mm balls
- 10 x 25.4mm balls,
- 71 x 19.05mm balls and
- 94 x 12.7mm balls
Fully automated version of the Bond Index Ball Mill is also available on request. Its control system is designed to perform an automatic grind sequence. It is also possible to operate the fully automated mill in manual mode
