OEM Sample Preparation

Tungsten Carbide Pulverising Mill Bowl

Tungsten carbide is the grinding head of choice for many laboratories where elemental contamination is limited to just two principal contaminants: tungsten and cobalt.

With the Essa 125cc grinding head all surfaces in contact with the sample (bowl, ring, roller and lid) are machined from tungsten carbide. The bowl chamber and inner lid layer are encased in stainless steel to increase overall strength and to reduce material cost.

The bowl and lid incorporate ergonomically-designed lifting flanges to enable easier handling when processing samples.

Multiload & Multipour Systems

Essa pioneered the development and engineering of the apparatus to facilitate multiple crucible loading and pouring in fire assay. The invention of both the multiloading and multipouring systems is one of the few innovations to benefit fire assay technology in recent times – a technique that has remained relatively unchanged for centuries.

Working closely in conjunction with fire assay operators the Essa multiloading and multipouring systems are practically designed, easy to operate and robust in construction.

These systems are specifically designed to suit your particular requirements and cater to such variables as crucible and cupel type, furnace manufacture and crucible layout configuration in the furnace.

XRF Press

Essa Australia manufacture a bench mounted, two piece, high pressure, electro-hydraulic actuated press for laboratory use in the preparation of pressed powder samples for x-ray fluorescence analysis.

It is made up as a press unit and a separate 240 volt, single phase, electro-hydraulic power pack. The press unit is designed for free standing on the customer’s bench top with the separate power pack placed within a 3 metre hose length of the press unit. The most frequently used location for the power pack is the floor area beneath the press unit.

XRF Fusion Equipment

Essa Australia has engineered a single furnace XRF bead fusion machine that has the flexibility of being operated manually or easily incorporated into an automated laboratory environment. Fusion time is 9 minutes with a total cycle time of approximately 10-12 minutes per sample. Castable crucibles can be used which means no pouring is required. If normal crucibles are used then the fused sample must be poured into a mould. This can be done manually or automated using a small industrial robot. It would be, therefore, most efficient to incorporate several furnaces serviced by a single robot.

XRD Press

The Essa Australia XRD Press is designed to semi automate the preparation of pressed powder samples for analysis by XRD. The pneumatic piston forms a lightly pressed sample into a two piece sample holder associated with standard XRD analysers.
